Brewing Water
Water Treatment
Removal of Particulate Matter
If your brewery uses municipal water, the water must meet certain mandated conditions; however, the water picks up contaminants in the pipes from the water treatment plant to the brewery. These contaminants usually consist of scale from the pipes, sediment, and rust particles. Consequently, incoming water can be filtered using either a depth filter, which can exclude 98% of the particles more than 2 microns (µm) in diameter or a cartridge membrane filter, which can exclude particles more than 5 µm (3).
