Water Treatment
Most brewers find it necessary to treat the water before using it for brewing. There are a number of water treatments but generally they fall into the following categories:
- Removal of particulate matter
- Reduction in alkalinity
- Mineral salt adjustment
- Dechlorination
- Microbiological control
The type of water treatment(s) needed will depend on a number of factors, including the style of beer produced and the quality and consistency of the incoming water supply.
